Ex-library books to be given away

PERTH and Kinross Adult Literacy and Numeracy Partnership will be giving ex-library books away to members of the public as part of International Literacy Day.

A stall will be set up today (Tuesday) outside the Youth Services City Base at St John’s Place in Perth from 10am until 2pm, and people will be able to take away any books they fancy.

The giveaway aims to raise awareness of the local Literacies in the Community Project. Perth and Kinross Libraries Literacy Development Officer and the Project Co-ordinator will be on hand to talk about opportunities available for adult learners.

A Churches Action for The Homeless (CATH) adult literacy worker will also be giving jewellery-making demonstrations at the stall.

International Literacy Day was established in 1965 by UNESCO to raise literacy awareness around the world each year.
