Take a Pride in Perthshire winners announced

BLAIRGOWRIE, Comrie, Scotlandwell and Blackford took the top honours in this year’s Take a Pride in Perthshire Competition.

Representatives from the many “in Bloom” committees across Perth and Kinross gathered in Perth’s Salutation Hotel last night, to hear the results.

The winning Wee Village reaching Gold Medal standard was Scotlandwell. In the same category, Spittalfield in Bloom and Keltybridge and Maryburgh Environmental Project also reached Gold Medal standard.

The Small Village Winner with a Gold Medal was Blackford, very closely followed by Muthill who also won Gold.

The Large Village Category was won by Comrie in Colour who reached Gold Standard, closely followed by Glenfarg and Duncrievie who also picked up a Gold.

The Small Country Town Category was also a close run contest with three of its entrants, Blair in Bloom, Crieff in Leaf and Coupar Angus Pride of Place all achieving Gold standard. Pitlochry three times winner of the category had to stand down under the rules of the competition.

However, the judges picked as their overall winner the entry from Blair in Bloom.

Glenfarg and Duncrievie in Bloom received two Awards – the “Best Involvement with Community Youth” and the “Best Community Involvement”.

Coupar Angus Pride of Place received the award for the “Best Involvement With Schools”.

The “Most Improved Community” award went to Milnathort in Bloom.
