ONE of Scotland’s leading glass artists has been tasked with creating this year’s Perthshire Chamber of Commerce Star Awards.
Specialist Sarah Peterson, head designer with the world famous Caithness Glass, has accepted the challenge for the second year running to design and manufacture unique trophies for the district’s top businesses.
And the talented artist is now working to incorporate this year’s award ceremony “Homecoming” theme in her works of art.
Caithness Glass has agreed to sponsor the trophies for the third year and Sarah said she’s “delighted and excited” to be handed the challenge of producing something special for the district’s premier business awards.
Said Sarah: “This year’s challenge is particularly interesting. A Scottish theme suggests using colours of the landscape or perhaps introducing a touch of tartan around the primary Star concept. It’s a great challenge and it’s been great fun working on it but I don’t want to give too much away at this stage.”
Chamber chief executive Vicki Unite said the final design would remain firmly under wraps until the Star Awards ceremony at Perth Concert Hall on Thursday, November 26. But she promised a real “wow factor” for those lucky enough to win.
Ms Unite said that businesses are already submitting their entries for this year’s awards – each hopeful of winning centre stage at the glittering awards dinner in November.
Entries are still being invited from businesses based in Perth and Kinross for this year’s nine Star Award categories: Employee of the Year, New Business, Customer Service, Training and Development, Retail, Creative, Tourism and Hospitality, Marketing and Business in the Community.
Entry forms can be collected from the chamber office at Algo Business Centre, Glenearn Road, Perth, or by calling Vicki Unite on Perth 01738 450401.
All entries must be submitted by the closing date of Monday, September 21.
