AN ENERGY-SAVING invention by Perth mum Tanya Ewing has been given a seal of approval by Perth MSP Roseanna Cunningham.
The 40-year-old entrepreneur, named inventor of the year in 2008, has spent nine years battling Lyme Disease and now her “Ewgeco” has been labelled the most exciting innovation in years by industry experts.
Tanya told the Perth MSP how her creation allows home owners and businesses to keep a close eye on utility bills, while also showing how simple things, like not leaving a TV on standby, can save hundreds of pounds.
She said: “I was delighted that Ewgeco was recently introduced to four local schools and the feedback I’ve had suggests it’s proving very popular.
“The product helps to save energy and money but, just as importantly, it also invites people to think about their energy consumption.
“I’m almost in a situation where I don’t have time to think about my illness anymore. It can be hard but I am dedicated to Ewgeco and keep my mind focussed on it,” the mother-of-one added.
Ms Cunningham admitted she’s had one of Tanya’s devices installed in her Perth constituency office.
She said: “I am very excited about Ewgeco. Energy use is a huge issue and devices such as this can be a big help in controlling energy consumption.”
