Atholl Rugby Club members run Pitlochry 10k

SEVEN Atholl Rugby Club teammates took part in the Pitlochry 10k at the weekend.

The group of players raised around £800 for Macmillan and the club through their efforts.

Councillor Ken Lyall, who ran as part of the Atholl club, told the PA afterwards: “There were seven of us on Sunday, which is good considering there was a game on Saturday.

“This is the third year that the club has done it and this is the most we have had from the club.

“The weather was great. We were in club strips so some of the guys found it a bit hot, but it was a good day.”

He added that although he was walking “like the tin man” on Monday, there were no real aches and pains.

Ken said: “It was great considering we are a group of people who aren’t used to running great distances.”

Just over 200 people took part in the race on Sunday.

The money raised for the club will go to day to day funds, including paying referees’ fees and transport costs.
