Provost opens this year's shoebox appeal

PROVOST John Hulbert officially launched this year’s Blythswood Shoebox Appeal at a special coffee morning.

The charity provides shoeboxes filled with Christmas gifts for poorer communities in Eastern Europe, India and Sri Lanka.

A final total of over £665 was raised at the coffee morning, and organisers thanked Provost John Hulbert and his wife Sara for giving their time to launch the local appeal.

Said Dennis Brown from Blythswood: “The group would like to thank all the people who gave donations for the stalls and helped on the day, thank you also to everybody that came along and enjoyed the fellowship, helping us to raise the awareness of the public to the Shoe Box Appeal.”

Shoe Box Appeal leaflets are available from the North Church office, from 10am–noon, and the Open Door Café, between 2–4pm, Monday to Friday, and before and after services at the church on a Sunday where wrapped boxes can also be collected for a donation.

Because of limited storage, please do not bring filled shoe boxes to the North Church before Sunday, October 25, and bulk deliveries before week starting November 9, the closing date for returning filled shoe boxes or filler items is Friday, November 13.

If you require posters a bulk supply of leaflets or more information about the Blythswood Shoe Box Appeal contact Dennis Brown, tel 01738 629571.
