Hi-tech campus is ready for its pupils

THE next community campus in Perth and Kinross Council’s £136m Investment in Learning Programme was handed over this week.

From Thursday, October 22, Glenearn Community Campus in Perth will be the home for the new Inch View Primary and Nursery School, which replaces Caledonian Road Primary School and Friarton Nursery.

The campus will provide state-of-the-art classrooms for pupils and staff, who will take up residence after the October holidays.

It will also include high-quality modern facilities for a wide range of community uses outside school hours including a multi-use games area, sports/assembly hall and music, art, drama and meeting rooms.

Glenearn Community Campus will be operational Monday to Friday between 7am-10pm and between 8am -5pm at weekends. The sports facilities will be managed by Perth & Kinross Leisure, who will also deliver community sports and recreation programmes outside school hours.

Local residents and organisations were the first to visit the campus when special open days were held on Tuesday and Thursday.

Leader of the Council, Councillor Ian Miller, said: “The handover marks the next step in Perth and Kinross Council’s Investment in Learning Programme that will benefit children, young people and local communities with enhanced education and community facilities throughout Perth and Kinross.”

Chief executive Bernadette Malone added: “This will be a valuable resource for the local community and the work of everyone involved is to be praised.”
