ON the afternoon of Sunday, November 22, Perth will come to life with a selection of festive entertainment for the Christmas lights switch-on.
An array of local talent and entertainment will be found on the main stage outside Perth Concert Hall, including local band Vortex and the voices of the Craigclowan Middle School Choir, who will sing Christmas Songs.
The festivities open at 1.45pm when Tay FM presenters will introduce the events. They will also be running competitions before the switch-on and throughout the afternoon.
As well as the stage programme, the streets will be alive with entertainment for all the family, including stilt walkers, face painting and music.
Santa will be in his grotto from 1pm on the day and will be giving out presents and discussing lists with all the children. To visit is free (last entry is 4.20pm).
The HSBC’s kind sponsorship has also enabled Santa Claus and his magnificent live reindeer to visit Perth and Santa and his procession will be leaving St John Street at 4.45pm and travelling to the Concert Hall.
The day’s celebrations will come to a climax with the counting in of the lights switch-on and the countdown to Perth800.
There is also an opportunity to hear the senior choir from Craigclowan Preparatory School when they sing at a lunchtime concert at St Ninian’s Cathedral, Perth, this Saturday.
In addition to the choir at the concert, there will also be performances from the school’s pipers and drummers, as well as the senior strings and the school’s string quartet.
