FOUR organisations in North Tayside have received more than £25,000 in funding under the ‘Awards for All’ scheme.
Dunkeld and Birnam District Leisure Group received £10,000 for the employment of a business consultant as part of its continuing project to create a leisure and healthy living centre.
Blackwater Public Hall, 10 miles north of Blairgowrie on the A93 Perth to Braemar road, received £8,300, which will provide a new roof to improve the facility and benefit all who use it.
Atholl and Breadalbane Agricultural Society has recently received £7000, to buy a portable office and steel store to safely store the organisation’s equipment and to enable the group to offer a more professional service.
The Tuesday Club of Meikleour was awarded £2070 which will allow the group to run a residential weekend for their members, who are young people over the age of 12 years with learning difficulties.
North Tayside MSP John Swinney, who is also Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth, welcomed the news.
He said yesterday: “I am positively delighted to see that so many groups and organisations have been successful in this round of funding from the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All scheme.
“This is a great feat and the funding secured is a testament to the hard work and dedication and investment of time by all those involved. I note that a number of the organisations received the highest levels of funding available.
“Awards for All is an initiative designed to improve the community, to bring people together and to support them as they improve their area. I am sure that the funding which these organisations have secured will do exactly that.
“I would like to take this opportunity to encourage all in my constituency who are involved with charities, voluntary organisations or school groups to consider applying for the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All scheme. It is a very worthwhile cause and as we have seen from this round of funding, can provide a number of funding opportunities.”
