Couple raise money for Perth Royal Infirmary haematology unit

POPULAR entertainer Eddie Rose and his wife Margaret have raised £1020 for PRI’s haematology unit.

The couple organised a Scottish night in Pitlochry Town Hall which featured a concert, starring a range of performers from across Scotland, as well as a quiz and a raffle.

The performers included accordionist Sandy Lindsay, piper Sharon Kelly, soprano Mhairi Grant, organists The Moulin Mouthies and highland dancers Megan Winton and Rachel McKay.

Said Margaret: “I’d like to thank all the performers for giving their time for free, Elizabeth Napier who produced the quiz, and everyone who came along and supported us on the night, as well as the staff at the haematology unit who always make me feel so welcome.”

Margaret, who was diagnosed with aplastic anaemia around 18 months ago and has been receiving treatment at the haematology unit ever since, also donated £160 to Maggie’s Centre.

She previously donated £400 to the unit after asking for donations instead of gifts for her ruby wedding anniversary in February of this year.

Eddie and Margaret are pictured handing over the cheque to consultant haematologist Dr Duncan Gowans (centre) and unit staff senior charge nurse Susan Thomson, senior staff nurse Shirley Brown and support worker Lynn Thompson.
