Tayside Police issue counterfeit cash alert

POLICE are warning retailers, businesses and members of the public to guard against the use of counterfeit money.

The force has received numerous reports from shopkeepers and retail staff, notably from the Dundee and Perth areas, with regard to fake Bank of England £20 notes being offered as legal tender.

Serial numbers of forged notes reported to Tayside Police recently, and which could still be circulating in the area, are: BN57502851, AK38214937, AL82105983, BB14838880, BN57502851, DG67603592.

Officers are urging everyone in the Tayside community to be vigilant, and to contact the police if they receive a note they suspect to be counterfeit.

THIEVES made off with a motorbike after breaking into a garage on Arthurstone Farm, near Meigle, between 6pm on November 17 and 7am in the morning the following day.

Officers from Tayside Police have urged members of the public to be on the lookout for the Yamaha YZF, 250cc, vehicle.

AN ORANGE chainsaw was taken from a Coupar Angus shed sometime between 4pm on November 15 and 9am on November 18.

COOPER wire was taken from Scottish and Southern Energy’s sub-station at Tummel Bridge between November 10 and 7.20am on November 18.

Tayside Police have said the damage caused could end up costing the power company a four-figure sum.
