PATRIOTIC folkster Andrew Gordon (right) will make an early start to his St Andrew’s Day celebrations by playing a Perth gig this weekend.
The guitarist-cum-singer, who grew up in the Fair City, will be appearing at the Soutar Theatre in the AK Bell Library on Friday.
Andrew (33) told Music Scene he has packed in countless live shows over the last 15 years, since he performed solo for the first time in Perth.
“The last few years have been very successful and I have been lucky enough to play all over Scotland, and also Germany and Amsterdam,” he said yesterday.
“I grew up in Perth and as a supporter of the Homecoming event thought a trip back to my roots would tie in well.”
The Corries-influenced songsmith played his first solo gig aged just 17 back in 1994, but it was to be another five years before his career really took off.
In the past two years he has racked up nearly 300 live shows.
Andrew’s County Place concert will see him performing a range of traditional and contemporary Scottish songs, including ballads, battle songs and ‘funnies’, all accompanied by guitar or bodhran.
To enter a competition to win two tickets for the show, a meal for two and a copy of Andrew’s CD You Don’t Need A Beard, look up his website www.andrewgordon.co.uk
Friday’s gig starts at 7.30pm.
