A NEW community flat has been unveiled in the Muirton area of Perth.
The flat, opened by Councillor Heather Stewart, will be operated by the Muirton Park Community Development Trust (MPCDT) and will be used as a base from which to co-ordinate community activities.
Finance to furnish the project was secured through the Perth and Kinross Council-supported Fairer Scotland Fund, with additional money provided by Perthshire Housing Association and Fairfield Housing Co-operative.
Councillor Stewart said: “It was an honour and a privilege to open the new flat and I would like to pay tribute to the energy and enthusiasm of the people of Muirton.
“In a sense, it’s not buildings themselves that make the difference – it’s the level of dedication and commitment that the people are willing to put back into their community,” she said.
The new premises are situated near the newly-built village green area – known locally as “The Crescent” – one of the many green spaces within the recently-re-vamped Muirton Park estate.
