Perth DJ gathers 1000 signatures for Save the Ice Factory petition

AROUND 1000 people have joined a campaign to save a defunct Perth nightspot, it emerged yesterday.

Perth DJ Ricky Kennedy has started a petition to save the Ice Factory, which held its last event on Halloween.

He has gathered 600 signatures on paper, while a further 400 people have added their names to a dedicated page on Facebook.

But club owner John Bryden yesterday insisted that he had no plans to revive the attraction, which opened in 1994.

Mr Kennedy (23) said: “It would be a tragedy for Perth if we didn't do all we could to save it.”

Mr Bryden, who is in talks with potential buyers of the Shore Road factory building, said the decision to close the club had followed poor financial returns.
