Glowing inspection report for Glenalmond College

PERTHSHIRE’S Glenalmond College received a glowing report following a recent government inspection.

The findings, published by HM Inspectorate of Education (HMIE) this week, heaped praise on the leadership given to the school’s 394 pupils and the students’ high level of attainment.

Of the five areas under scrutiny, inspector Belinda Greer classed Glenalmond as “very good” in three of them – and said the historic establishment exhibits “major strengths.”

Improvements made from the last inspection were classed as “excellent,” with the only real area for improvement being the amount of self-evaluation the students are asked to do – something which was classed as “good.”

Commenting on the report, Glenalmond College warden Gordon Woods said: “This report recognises the achievements of a strongly-motivated community that cares and has respect for each other in everything that we do.

“I’m very proud of the range and quality of achievement by all our pupils and we are especially pleased to have received top-grading for improvements in performance.’’
