RED-FACED volunteers in Crieff were forced into an embarrassing climbdown yesterday.
Three men had been using a cherry picker to put the finishing touches to the town’s Christmas lights display when they had to be rescued by firefighters.
A spokeswoman for Tayside Fire and Rescue said the incident had been sparked by a mechanical failure.
The trio were helped down from their aerial platform at around 10am.
