THE manager of the Perth and Kinross Society for the Blind, Dr Richard Mazur, has retired after two decades at the helm.
The New Row-based group now caters for 800 registered blind and partially-sighted members of the community and the number is rising.
Paying tribute to Dr Mazur’s work, Provost John Hulbert said: “Dr Mazur has worked for a very long time in the midst of what’s proved to be a fast-developing situation.
“He has succeeded very effectively in managing the relentlessly-rising numbers, marring this with the increasing number of aids and treatments available – and doing so with a minimal increase in resources.
“I would like also to mention Dr Mazur’s wife, the Rev Anne Mazur.
She has been a great help to Richard over the years.”
