Potato crew provide boost for woodland volunteer scheme at Moncreiffe Hill

FACTORY workers from Perthshire were praised by environmentalists yesterday after helping boost a Perthshire beauty spot.

Employees from Abernethy-based potato company Branston Ltd swapped the factory floor for the great outdoors when they spent a strenuous half-day removing deer fencing and tree tubes at Moncreiffe Hill.

Project organiser Woodland Trust Scotland is in the process of acquiring land which will help improve the amenity value of the Perth site.

Branston’s Jim Aitken said: “Those taking part enjoyed the day and are hoping to return in the spring.”
