RECYCLING champions yesterday invited Perthshire’s computer owners to put a two-day donation session in their diaries.
Big County folk are being urged by the Computers 4 Africa charity to take their unwanted IT equipment to a special collection point set to open next week at Perth’s St Catherine’s Retail Park.
All gadgets donated at the site’s former B&Q warehouse will be sent to schools, libraries and specific projects across Africa.
Computers 4 Africa spokeswoman Lowri Turner said the charity has sent over 4500 computers to Africa, “transforming lives and communities”.
“Residents are welcome to drop in and donate their unwanted PCs, laptops, notebooks and monitors that are less than five years old and in working condition,” she told the PA.
“All computers donated to us are securely data wiped before being shipped to Africa.”
Following their drop-in session on Tuesday and Wednesday, Computers 4 Africa plan to make four return visits to Perth next year.
Details of the future appeal dates are available on the website www.computers4africa.org.uk
