Masked herd to form wild rovers stampede in Crieff

A MASKED herd parade is expected to bring Crieff’s streets to a standstill tomorrow.

Participants in ‘The Wild Rovers’ will wind their way from the town’s James Square to the new Strathearn Community Campus in an event that is set to take a surreal look at the town's heritage.

Supported by Perth and Kinross Council and the National Galleries of Scotland, the parade of masked and caped residents carrying home-made flags and banners has been inspired by Highland paintings by Victorian artist Peter Graham.

The troupe will be accompanied by samba drummers and dancers as part of a weekend-long celebration marking the campus’s opening.

A film of the spectacular event, which gets underway at 11.30am tomorrow, will be used in a national exhibition scheduled to reach Crieff in March.
