Wildlife drawing competition winners named by Tayside Police

A CHARITY concert at Dunkeld Cathedral has marked the second stage of a £45,000 fund-raiser.

Aberfeldy resident Sebastian Thewes is collecting money for the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (Chas) in memory of his mother Roma Schapiro.

Donations have been allocated at Sebastian’s request for a tree-planting project at Robin House, the children’s hospice run by Chas in Balloch, North Lanarkshire.

Last Sunday’s concert featured 25-year-old classical pianist Emmanuel Despax, who performed a programme including Haydn and Chopin.

Despax's mentor Ruth Nye, the Royal College of Music’s and Yehudi Menuhin School’s professor of piano, gave a talk about the programme.

The event also included a talk by Chas chairman Professor Gordon Dickson.

Sebastian, who has already masterminded chamber music events in London, intends to organise further concerts in Scotland to reach the £45,000 target to complete the garden at Robin House.

To donate to Chas contact the charity’s Kinross fund-raising office on 01577 865222 or go to www.chas.org.uk
