Campaign to make Perth streets safer for women

A PUB poster campaign aiming to prevent alcohol-related violence against Perthshire women is set to run until New Year.

As part of a national campaign the posters are being displayed in Perth’s bars and at St Johnstone’s home ground, McDiarmid Park.

Partner agencies promoting the scheme include Perth and Kinross Domestic Abuse and Violence Against Women Forum and Perth Pub Watch.

Tayside Police’s Detective Inspector Steve Bissett, who is the forum’s vice-chair, said drunkenness was no excuse for violent crime.

“We are very clear that the responsibility for any violence and abuse lies with the perpetrator and alcohol is not an excuse,” he said.
