THE RESULTS of the year’s final independent probe into the inner workings of Perth and Kinross Council will be revealed tomorrow.
Auditors Henderson Loggie have investigated the local authority’s activity in relation to finance, governance and performance.
The study shows that a surplus of £1.65m was achieved in the council’s accounts for the year 2008-09, with just under £10m available as “uncommitted resources” at the end of the same financial year.
Council leader Ian Miller said: “This latest external audit reflects the commitment we have made to prudently manage our finances and to cut our cloth accordingly.
“In difficult economic times we must address the pressures we face on our budgets.
“I am pleased that the auditors have made a number of positive comments about our work and our focus will continue to be on good governance and improvement for the benefit of the people of Perth and Kinross.”
On Wednesday councillors will be told Henderson Loggie’s work is the second part of a two-stage accountancy review.
They will be asked to submit it to a future meeting of the council’s audit sub-committee for further scrutiny.
