“HIGHER than the Eagle Soars” is the latest in the RSGS's popular “Inspiring People” talks, on at the Perth Concert Hall this evening.
Stephen Venables was the first Briton to climb Everest without supplementary oxygen and by a new route – just one of his pioneering expeditions.
This illustrated talk will cover some of Stephen's amazing travels and climbs, from early alpine adventures to classics like the north face of the Eiger, with overseas expeditions to Afghanistan, the Mountains of the Moon, the mighty Karakoram and the Himalaya.
The Perth-based Royal Scottish Geographical Society (RSGS) is an educational charity established in October 1884.
It is celebrating its 125th anniversary by organising its best ever programme of illustrated public talks, giving people the opportunity to hear inspirational speakers delivering a great series of fascinating talks on a wide range of geographical topics.
Stephen Venables' talk will be given at 7.30pm on December 15 in Perth Concert Hall. Admission is £6 for adults and free for under-18s/students.
RSGS members have free admission to this and around 100 talks, in venues all over Scotland, throughout the year.
