AN OIL company executive who drove his Porsche at 110mph near Kinross was fined £1200 and banned for six months at Perth Sheriff Court this week.
Gary Christie (51), who earns £6000 net a month, was allowed 30 days to pay the penalty.
The court heard he was clocked on the M90 as he drove to Edinburgh Airport shortly after 4.30am. The speed limit on the road is 70mph.
A solicitor said he had been driving to catch a flight to Italy, where he works.
He had left in plenty of time but was preoccupied with his father, who was in Arbroath Infirmary suffering from pancreatic cancer.
He had subsequently allowed his speed to “drift.”
But Sheriff Robert McCreadie questioned how that could happen, saying his speed level was “unconscionable.”
The lawyer pointed out that if the project manager was banned, 23 other people could be laid off.
But the Sheriff noted that the accused had a fixed penalty for a previous speeding incident last year and had been “well warned.”
Christie, of Fort Street, Dundee, admitted the offence which took place last November 23.
