Crieff railway line stripper jailed

A 27-YEAR-OLD woman who stripped to the waist and stood in the middle of a railway line while high on drink and drugs was jailed for 22 months at Perth Sheriff Court.

Joanne Mayor, of Sauchie Terrace, Crieff, was warned that if she continued to re-offend she could expect further lengthy sentences.

She took alcohol and valium, climbed a fence near Perth Station and stood in the middle of the track, the court heard.

When she was spotted by British Transport Police, she ran towards the Moncreiffe Tunnel before stripping to the waist and waving her arms in the air.

Depute fiscal Stewart Richardson told the court: “Fortunately for her, there was no train on the horizon.”

Mayor, who had little memory of the bizarre incident pled guilty to committing a breach of the peace last October 29.

Previously, Mayor sneaked into a house in Sheilinghill Place, Crieff, and stole a bag containing £40 and two bank cards on August 8.

She is currently serving a four-month sentence imposed last month for stealing cosmetics from Tesco’s Crieff Road store on January 18.

A solicitor for Mayor, who had more than 90 previous convictions, said the house theft was committed on valium.

Sentencing, Sheriff Lindsay Foulis told Mayor: “We have reached the stage where only you can sort yourself out – if you can – and that’s a big if.”

He ordered her to serve the remainder of a sentence from which she was released early, plus a further 14-month consecutive sentence for the other offences.
