Perth woman “lost her mind” through drink

A PERTH woman who “lost her mind” on a drinking binge launched an attack on police after she lost her house keys.

Boozed-up Gemma Patterson rang 999 and was discovered by officers near her home in Wallace Gait in the early hours of the morning.

Her clothing was covered in mud, she had lost one of her shoes and her keys were also missing.

While one constable tried to calm her down, another went searching for her keys and footwear, but the 26-year-old suddenly lashed out at one of them, kicking him on the leg.

She eventually got into her house but later ran off. When traced in Appin Terrace she lashed out with her hands and fists at another two officers as they tried to arrest her.

And when she was taken to Perth Police headquarters, she claimed she was going to kill herself.

She was asked to remove her clothing and change into a safety suit but refused, kicking a WPC on the leg.

Solicitor Rosie Scott said the accused had been at a barbecue at her sister’s and people were “constantly topping up her glass of wine.”

Paterson pled guilty to resisting arrest and assaulting two police officers on July 4.

Sheriff Robert McCreadie said: “She consumed so much alcohol she actually lost her mind.’’

He admonished Patterson after being told she had been of good behaviour since her last court appearance.
