Dunning residents to discuss new conservation plan

RESIDENTS will meet next week to discuss a new protection plan for a picturesque Perthshire village.

Conservation status was first awarded to Dunning by the local authority in 1970.

And, as a result of an on-going Placecheck scheme in the village – which encourages communities to identify locations in need of a face-lift – the council have been pressured to review its conservation agreement.

An updated version has been produced which, according to Perth and Kinross Council “helps to identify the special character and changing needs of an area”.

Members of the specialist council-led conservation and regeneration team will be available to answer questions and collect comments on the document in Dunning Village Hall on February 17, 18 and 19.

A PKC spokesman said: “If a conservation area's special character has been clearly defined and published in an appraisal, then this can be used to guide new development and assist those wishing to invest in the area.”

The Auchterarder Road premises will be open from 10am-5pm on February 17 and 19, and from 10am-7pm on February 18.

A form is available to download from the local authority’s website, www.pkc.gov.uk, with the deadline for submissions being March 8.

Perth and Kinross Council’s enterprise and infrastructure committee will then meet to discuss the findings – with the intention of rubber-stamping the new conservation agreement later this year.
