A POSSIBLE sign that the housing market is picking up is the lodging yesterday of an application for 27 new homes in Perth.
St Madoes-based GS Brown Construction Ltd intend to erect the apartment-style properties on land off Allison Crescent in the Fair City’s Tulloch district.
Plans submitted to Perth and Kinross Council show three blocks of one and two-bedroomed flats, each on three storeys.
l A development of much-needed affordable flats in Crieff could replace the former Victor Marsh Cars garage in the town’s King Street.
Plans lodged with Perth and Kinross Council show 14 two-bedroomed flats in a two-storey terrace development plus 14 car parking spaces.
The developers are Alan Loughry and Keith Moncrieff, care of an address at Cambuskenneth, Stirling.
l Plans for a new business could create four jobs at a shop and restaurant premises on the outskirts of Bridge of Earn.
An application by V&A McKenzie Ltd, Gateside Home Farm, Bridge of Earn, seeks planning consent to create a garden design centre on an area of agricultural land beside their Brig Farm visitor building.
Operating the new facility will be Citrus Property Care Ltd, whose representative is Paul Rice from Ashgrove, Scone.
He states in the planning bid that the design centre will create a showcase for garden products and the landscaping and garden design side of the company, alongside a carpentry workshop to produce bespoke fencing and garden furniture.
“It is envisaged the project will create a minimum of four rural jobs and indirectly secure another five jobs at the Brig Farm shop and restaurant by promoting their trade and attracting additional people to the site,” states Mr Rice, who also proposes to extend and improve the existing car park.
“We believe this development will be good for the rural economy and jobs, and will enable two rural-based businesses to flourish despite the prevailing economic environment.”
