THREE Scone teenagers, making their way home in the early hours of the morning, were confronted by a man carrying a claw hammer.
Christopher Collins (32), of Perth Road, Scone, was told to put it away.
But he went indoors and then re-appeared with a knife which he brandished at the youths.
“They did perhaps the sensible thing and made off along Perth Road,” depute fiscal Lucy Keane told Perth Sheriff Court this week.
Sheriff Robert McCreadie said that a concerning aspect of the case was that the accused claimed to have “no recollection whatsoever” of being in possession of the items.
A social inquiry report also disclosed that he was under the influence of a “cocktail of alcohol and prescribed medication” at the time.
Collins admitted alarming the youths by brandishing the weapons outside his house on November 7 last year.
Deferring sentence until May 10 for a supplementary social inquiry report, Sheriff McCreadie said: “There are clearly concerning factors and circumstances under which this offence was committed.”
