Perth teen in court after crash

A PERTH teenager threw a party when his mum was away and vast quantities of drink were consumed.

But the revelries ended when Shaun Fairlie drove a Nissan Micra away from his home.

A witness heard a loud bang outside a property in Hermitage Drive after 11pm and realised there had been a collision.

The Nissan driver sped away from the scene with no lights on, almost colliding with parked vehicles.

Police spotted the damaged car and arrested Fairlie, who became abusive and refused to provide specimens at the police station.

At the Sheriff Court this week, Fairlie (17), 203 Glasgow Road, admitted that on November 28 in Hermitage Drive and other streets he drove without insurance or L-plates and failed to stop after an accident which caused damage to another vehicle.

He also caused a breach of the peace by struggling with police officers.

Fairlie’s lawyer said he regretted his actions and was aware of the dangers posed by driving in such a state.

Sheriff Michael Fletcher deferred sentence until May 19.

Fairlie must attend a Right Track programme and an interim driving ban was continued.
