Perthshire hosts international film crew

BRAZILIAN broadcasters reckon promoting Perthshire’s charms could help boost ratings in their homeland.

Staff from one of the South American nation’s top daily news programmes captured footage of the Big County during a recent visit.

And now tartan tourist chiefs hopes to tap in to a prime-time viewing audience of more than 10 million.

VisitScotland’s Richard Pinn welcomed Brazilian TV news anchor Marcelo Torres to Perth’s Parklands Hotel, before he stopped by Crieff.

“We have seen an increase in visits from Brazil over the last three years,” Mr Pinn explained yesterday.

“We were delighted to have Brazil’s top journalists documenting Perthshire and this will help raise the region’s international profile.”

Mr Torres made clear how impressive he found the scenery on his trip.

“Driving through Edinburgh, past Perth and north, everything seems to be drawn by hand,” he said.

“Equally nice are the people, always ready to receive visitors with open arms.”

The Perthshire news feature is expected to feature on SBT Brazil in the next couple of months.
