Youth Rugby Festival at Blairgowrie
MORE than 160 boys and girls under 15 took part in the youth rugby festival at Blairgowrie.
Youngsters graced the pitches at the JJ Coupar Park where the Blairgowrie Rams hosted the Crieff, Glenrothes and Panmure clubs.
A large turnout of spectators enjoyed a festival of rugby with games being played at four different levels, S1/S2, P6/P7, P4/P5 and at micro level.
In the oldest section Blairgowrie S1/S2s turned in a strong display against a well organised Crieff team winning by 11 tries to five, with the Blairgowrie tries coming from Finlay Souch (4), Gordon Robertson (3), Callum Neil (3) and Arron Todd (1), with Fraser Black kicking five conversions and Robertson kicking one.
While every player in the squad played well, the man of the match points were awarded to Finlay Souch – 1 point, Gordon Robertson – 2 points and Oliver Moore – 3 points.
In the P6/P7 section Blairgowrie won all their matches with the P4/P5 putting up some good displays.
Following the action the 160 players and their parents adjourned to the clubhouse to enjoy some excellent food prepared by a dedicated band of helpers.
Huge credit must go to all those who give up their time to coach these youngsters every Sunday.
