Two women fined after Alyth brawl

A PAIR of east Perthshire women were ordered to pay almost £1000 between them following a brawl in an Alyth hotel.

Kimberley Grant (40), of Glendevon Court, Blairgowrie, was fined £600 and ordered to pay a further £100 in compensation to her victim.

She pled guilty at Perth Sheriff Court to assaulting Rosemary Peach in the Alyth Hotel, Commercial Street, last September 20.

Depute fiscal Julie McAra told the court how Grant pushed her on the body, causing her to fall and strike her head on a chair, and pulled her hair.

Part of the charge, which alleged that she kicked the woman on the body was deleted, while her not guilty plea to a charge of committing a breach of the peace was accepted by the prosecution.

A co-accused, mother-of-three Angela Kettles (43), of Elm Court, Alyth, was fined £250 after admitting shouting and swearing in the hotel.

A not guilty plea to a charge of assaulting a woman in the hotel was accepted by the Crown.

Representing Grant, solicitor Linda Clark said the initial argument flared up after another drinker in the bar “argued with the landlady over whether she was a chef or a cook.”
