THOUSANDS of music fans have been left disappointed after T in the Park tickets sold out.
An incredible 40,000 tickets disappeared in under 90 minutes on Friday after the naming of the first raft of must-see names who will head to the Perth area for T in the Park 2010.
The festival’s website experienced a record amount of hits as fans went crazy for a piece of the stellar line-up of artists booked for the summer bill.
It’s the first time the entire 85,000 T ticket allocation has been snapped up before March.
Muse, Eminem, Kasabian, The Black Eyed Peas, The Prodigy and Jay-Z are all set to headline at the event, which takes place from July 9-11 at the former Balado airfield.
An additional 40 top artists have also been confirmed for the festival, including recent Brit winners Dizzee Rascal and Florence & The Machine, and Stereophonics, Paolo Nutini, Vampire Weekend and The View.
The bulk of the T tickets were sold within an hour last Friday, with remaining day tickets and travel packages all snapped up shortly afterwards.
Festival director Geoff Ellis, from DF Concerts, said he wasn’t surprised that the bumper allocation had sold out so quickly.
“Although we know that we have an exceptionally strong line-up for 2010 you can’t be complacent,” he declared yesterday.
“It’s still momentous for us to sell out now as it was the first time we did and we’re really delighted.
“It’s great to know 85,000 music lovers think we’ve made the right choices and we can’t wait to put the best T in the Park yet on for them.”
George Kyle, head of sponsorship at the event’s founding partners Tennent’s Lager, added: “Everybody is delighted at the news that T in the Park 2010 has sold out and we are really looking forward to welcoming the Balado faithful back in July.”
With frenzied black market activity expected as desperate festival-goers seek to secure their places at Balado, T organisers are strongly urging fans not to buy from unofficial outlets.
A handful of Residence accommodation packages are still available to buy through www.lastminute.com and www.ticketmaster.co.uk
