CANINE Partners – a charity that provides specially trained assistance dogs to people with disabilities – will benefit from a car boot sale at Perth Racecourse next month.
The event, organised by the Perthshire fundraising team for Canine Partners, is by invite only, with room for just 400 cars. There will be professional valuations with local experts Nick Burns of Lindsay Burns’ Auction House, Tim Hardie the jeweller and art dealer Malcolm Innes.
The event is open to the general public from 11am-4pm, with valuations starting from 9am. Other attractions at the event are a hog roast, café and bouncy castle.
Lady Stormont of the fundraising committee comments: “This is an exclusive car boot sale in a wonderful location. Canine Partners is making amazing progress in helping people with disabilities in Scotland enjoy greater independence and a better quality of life. We are expecting to be able to raise additional funds for this work through the sale of items such as jewellery, furniture, picture and other antiques.”
Anybody who would like to apply for a site should telephone 08454 811915 or email scotland@caninepartners.co.uk
Canine Partners is a registered charity which assists people with disabilities to enjoy a greater independence and quality of life through the provision of specially trained dogs. Each dog is specifically trained to meet the needs of the individual with whom they will be partnered, helping with everyday tasks such as opening and shutting doors, unloading the washing machine, picking up dropped items, pressing buttons and switches and getting help in an emergency.
These life transforming dogs also provide practical, physiological, psychological and social benefits including increased independence and confidence as well as increased motivation and self-esteem. A Canine Partner also brings companionship, a sense of security and increases social interaction.
Canine Partners receives no government funding.
