Operation Ironworks launches

POLICE officers will be patrolling Loch Earn as part of this year’s Operation Ironworks.

The campaign is aimed at tackling anti-social behaviour within Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park and is part of the area’s Respect The Park programme.

Tayside Police, along with Central Scotland and Strathclyde forces, are working in conjunction with national park rangers and the Forestry Commission Scotland for the third year running to protect some of Scotland’s iconic beauty spots.

The three forces will carry out various initiatives targeting anti-social behaviour issues which are frequently alcohol-fuelled – including damage to property, irresponsible fires, litter, road safety and wildlife and environmental crimes, as well as noise disturbance.

Crieff area’s Inspector Cathy MacDonald said: “We will continue our efforts to address crime, disorder and anti-social issues.’’

Operation Ironworks will provide high-profile patrols by officers, special constables and national park rangers, as well as police patrols on motorbikes.
