A FIFTY per cent rise in Big County property sales has given cause for “cautious optimism” among market experts.
The Perthshire property market is making a significant recovery, according to Perthshire Solicitors Property Centre.
Unveiling statistics for the first half of 2010, the marketing organisation confirmed member legal firms had witnessed a significant recovery from the troubles which gripped the UK market last year.
In June alone, the St John’s Place Centre sold exactly 100 properties – a marked increase on all other months of the year.
The total value of these sales also reached nearly £17 million, twice as much as was generated in June last year.
Overall, sales for the first six months of 2010 were double those recorded for the same period of 2009.
Anne Begg, PSPC manager, explained: “We have in the past expressed ‘cautious optimism’ for the months ahead but we can now safely say that things are on the up and we have the first six months of the year to prove it.
“Interestingly, sale prices achieved remain the same compared to last year which is encouraging as many were expecting a huge drop in value.”
