PARK improvements have been welcomed by local residents and parents of young children in Perth’s Bridgend area.
Local councillor Peter Barrett has been receiving positive feedback to the refurbishment of the Bell Park oasis of calm which nestles in the busy junction between Isla Road and Main Street.
Yesterday, Cllr Barrett said: “The cleaning up of the park and refurbishment of the play equipment has transformed a somewhat overgrown, neglected and unappealing area into an absolute gem.”
The scheduled improvements programme was delayed briefly by additional minor works and an inspection to the boundary wall of a neighbouring property.
These were completed by the end of June, with the park re-opening for local children and parents to enjoy. Cllr Barrett added: “Mums in the area have told me how delighted they and their children are with the new park.
“They are remarking on how clean it is and how much the children have been enjoying the new play equipment.”
He also paid tribute to council landscape architects on the quality of the design work and the efforts staff made to keep parents up to date with progress.
“The landscape architect has done a tremendous job,” said Cllr Barrett.
“The park combines many of the attractive original features seating, including a waterfall, with modern, safe play equipment.
“This is particularly welcome in an area which didn’t offer much in the way of play facilities for small children and where accessibility is severely restricted by the busy roads.
“It was also gratifying to note that when there were concerns about the delayed works this was quickly explained to residents and acted upon.”
