A tribute to Natasha Alexandra Reid

A PERTH family have penned an emotional tribute to their eldest daughter, who tragically lost her life at the age of just 18.

Natasha Alexandra Reid passed away suddenly, but peacefully, at home on July 9.

Rev Jim Wallace led a moving service celebrating the life of the former Goodlyburn Primary and Perth Academy pupil at a packed St John’s Kirk.

Natasha’s dad Paul, mum Linda and younger sister Rebecca, asked the PA to include an emotional tribute to the much-loved youngster on behalf of all their family and friends.

‘A tribute to our beautiful Natasha by Paul, Linda and Rebecca Reid, X X X’: –

“Natasha was the most thoughtful, loving and caring person we knew, always considering others before herself.

“She loved her family, and loved going on outings to St Andrews beach, the Hermitage near Dunkeld, or just feeding the ducks at Faskally at an early age with Granny, Grandad and the rest of the family.

“She always looked forward to Granny and Grandad visiting every Sunday.

“Natasha and her sister, Rebecca, did everything together from an early age, including attending swimming lessons, gymnastics club and the Mandy Malloch School of Dancing.

“Natasha was a professional, Grade 8 level, keyboard player and taught at Perthshire Music School, where she had a large number of devoted students.

“She doted on her students and constantly worried about them achieving good grades and fulfilling their potential.

“As it turned out, Natasha had nothing to worry about, as two of her students achieved 100% in their recent examinations – a first for Perthshire Music School.

“Something her students may not know is that Natasha was also an excellent drummer and was learning to play the piano.

“A high achiever, very intelligent, and a keen sportsperson, she attended Goodlyburn Primary School, where her talents soon began to emerge.

“Always compassionate and very competitive, Natasha was crowned Goodlyburn Sports Champion in Primary Seven.

“Her secondary school education took place at Perth Academy, where she achieved eight Standard grades and seven Highers.

“She also gained a Sports Leader award in sixth year, and had also just been accepted to study a social sciences degree at Abertay University in Dundee.

“Natasha had recently passed her driving test and had just got her first wee car.

“She loved the independence it gave her, and often helped Granny with her shopping or took her on trips to Pitlochry.

“Natasha was due to go on the holiday of a lifetime to Cuba with her long-term boyfriend Scott Shaw and other close friends – it has been a favourite destination for Scott and his family over the years.

“Scott and Tasha were in love and spent a lot of time together going on various outings over their four years as a couple, having already holidayed together in Tenerife last year.

“They regularly enjoyed meeting both sides of the family and going out for meals together.

“Natasha’s working life was very busy, holding down part-time posts with Marks and Spencer, Debenhams and of course, her teaching at the music school.

“Our memories of Natasha are too many to include, but our last family holiday together was to Florida.

“We spent a whole day at Discovery Cove where we swam with dolphins. We will never forget that special day, as well as many other treasured family holidays.

“Natasha had become a very independent young adult, who we are all very proud of.

“She touched so many lives in a positive and caring way. She will be greatly missed by all her all her family and friends.

“As a family, we feel we gave Natasha many great things in her life, two of which were love and music.”
