Museum cash to pay for collections upgrade in Perth

PUBLIC cash is paying for a major extension and overhaul of Perth Museum and Art Gallery’s high density storage units.

The grant from the Scottish Government’s ‘recognition fund’, administered by Museums Galleries Scotland, is expected to benefit the museum’s nationally-recognised collections covering applied art, history, natural history and archaeology.

New units will improve the storage of the collections and make them more accessible for visitors coming to view objects not on display.

Suitable storage will be created for carved stones unearthed during archaeological excavations in Perth over the last four decades.

The stones have previously been located away from the museum.
