CROOKS embraced the Christmas spirit by using a sledge as a getaway vehicle.
After breaking into a greenkeepers hut at the Glen Isla Golf Club, by Alyth, raiders helped themselves to four sacks of coal worth the princely sum of £28.
The chilly crooks struck between 5.45pm on Monday and 9.30am next day.
Police were bemused to discover a set of sledge tracks in deep snow leading across fairways towards Alyth.
“The sledge tracks led all the way into the town but then the trail went cold,” said a police spokesman.
