Plans lodged for controversial homes in Bellwood Park

DEVELOPERS yesterday lodged plans to build new houses on open ground on Perth’s Kinnoull Hill – as forecast in last Friday’s PA.

The sloping 5.72-hectare area of agricultural land between Fernhill Road and Bellwood Park will accommodate four new luxury detached houses if Edinburgh-based applicants Edinmore successfully gain planning consent.

A similar bid to build on the attractively wooded land was rejected by the planning authority last March.

The new application formally lodged this week follows a 12-week consultation period involving residents.

It details the erection of four, six-bedroomed residential units, provision of managed open space and ancillary works, with access from either Bellwood Park or Fernhill Drive.

An applicant’s design statement adds: “This provides an opportunity for a low density housing development which has been sensitively designed, sited and screened to complement and enhance the local environment.”
