Brekkie bikers follow their red noses

ALMOST 70 pupils and parents cycled to Inch View Primary School – complete with red clothes and noses – to receive a free bikers’ breakfast to raise money for Comic Relief.

The cycle ride and breakfast, organised by UK charity Sustrans, was held to encourage cycling to school and to allow pupils to do something funny for money.

The cycle-related fun has raised an extra £60 towards Red Nose Day fundraising at the Perth school, with its grand total raised to be counted this week.

After a free, hearty breakfast for all children that cycled to school, a group of 70 pupils and parents joined teachers on a cycle ride from the Sir Walter Scott monument on the South Inch to Inch View primary school.

Sustrans has worked with the school since January last year and Sustrans’ I Bike officer Kelly Fry helps the teachers, pupils and parents to encourage children to get to school under their own steam.

She organises various activities and classroom sessions to give children the skills and confidence to cycle to school safely.

Kelly said: “I am so proud of the wonderful teachers, pupils and parents at Inch View primary. They are always ready for new activities, and come up with some really exciting cycling initiatives.”

Sustrans works with 12 schools in Perth, in partnership with Perth and Kinross Council.
