COUNCILLORS are expected to sanction a £165,000 investment for Perthshire tourism tomorrow.
Members of the enterprise and infrastructure committee will be asked to consider a report approving the funding to VisitScotland in a bid to maximise the number of tourists coming to the area.
The money will be used to support the organisation’s information services to visitors. In particular, the cash will benefit local visitor information centres (VICs) at Aberfeldy, Blairgowrie, Crieff, Dunkeld, Perth and Pitlochry.
It will also pay for information points at Kinross, Kenmore and Blackford.
According to a report, figures suggest the total visitor expenditure generated by visits to VICs by promoting local attractions, hospitality and other businesses to visitors was £1.75 million.
