COMMUNITY leaders and campaigners in Highland Perthshire have taken steps to make sure the construction of a wind farm doesn’t play havoc with people’s daily lives.
Amulree and Strathbraan Windfarm Action Group and the community council have teamed up to ask residents to report issues involving construction and delivery vehicles on the routes to the site.
In the past week nine claims of incidents have been reported, including a police escort hold-up.
The action group’s website, www.aswag.org.uk/ griffintransport.html, lists the routes but also who should be contacted if problems arise.
Deliveries to the SSE Renewables Griffin Wind Farm site have been ongoing for the past few months and are due to be completed by the end of the summer.
Last week saw the first delivery of turbine blades, each 49 metres long.
Once completed, the wind farm will have a capacity of 156MW.
Vehicles headed for the site from Rosyth are using the A9 Aberfeldy to Dunkeld, the A822 Dunkeld to Milton, the A827 Aberfeldy to Ballinluig, and the A826 Milton to Gilmerton and the Griffin wind farm site entrance to Aberfeldy.
