ACTIVITIES designed to help Perthshire pupils become aware of issues facing African women raised £600 for charity.
‘Half the Sky’ week, which had ‘Intellect’ as its theme, was instigated and run by sixth formers at Kilgraston, who presented an assembly every day on a different subject.
Pupils at the Bridge of Earn school made teams to take on the teachers in a University Challenge style quiz, while heads of houses took part in a six-mile walk from the centre of Perth to simulate an African child’s walk to school.
Girls also took part in an African-style dance class and set off lanterns with their hopes for the future written on them.
The event raised £600 for African women’s education charity Camfed.
