Letham

LETHAM U12 tangerines (sponsored by John Gillespie): The last game of the season took place at Seven Acres against the Whites. In the first half the Whites took advantage of the slight breeze and the slope to go into a two goal advantage. After the break the Tangerines pulled a goal back but were unable to force an equaliser.

Letham U12 whites (John B Tainsh): With pitch markings at Goodlyburn non-existent the derby game was switched to Seven Acres. The team adapted very well to the big pitch and full sized goals and scored two excellent goals in the first half. After the break the Tangerines pressed hard and did score a fine goal. With the defence well marshalled they denied the Tangerine forwards many further scoring chances and ran out deserved but narrow winners to claim bragging rights for a few months. No training tomorrow. Game on Sunday at Seven Acres against the parents. Meet 10.15am.

Letham U11 tangerines (Glenalmond): The good run came to an end on Sunday when they were defeated by Rosyth United. This Sunday they have again formidable opposition when they face Blue Brazil. Sandy will advise arrangements for Pitreavie.

Letham U11 whites (Johnston Carmichael): Scone provided stern opposition at the start of the game. As the game progressed the team started to dominate and their good play was rewarded with some fine goals. Credit to the opposition goalkeeper who made some exceptional saves. On Sunday at home to Luncarty. This game will take place at Seven Acres.

Letham U10T (New Today): The scheduled game against Luncarty was played earlier in the week and the team recorded a narrow victory. On Sunday away to Pitfour. Ian will advise arrangements.

Letham U10W (RGW): The scheduled game was postponed as both main coaches were sitting their coaching badges. On Monday, the team played their club mates from the sky blues and showed all their experience of playing together. On Sunday the game against Luncarty has been postponed.

Letham U9 Tangerines (Flonix IT): The young team fought bravely against the good Blairgowrie side. This Sunday at home to Jeanfield Swifts Black.

Letham U9 Sky Blues: Last Monday the team played their first ever game at Seven Acres when they played the White team. In a comparative tight game the more experienced Whites had the upper hand.

Letham Girls U11 (Scottish Hydro Electric): The team dominated their away game against Glenrothes Strollers but alas some defensive fragilities meant they lost by the odd goal in five. Tomorrow they have a local derby at Seven Acres with Jeanfield Swifts. Meet clubhouse at 9.45am.

Letham Girls U13 (The Mortgage Blogger.co.uk ): The girls playing their first match of the season got a fiery baptism from visiting Lomond Colts and lost heavily. Tomorrow they travel to play Dunfermline. Brian will advise travel arrangements for game that kicks off at 10.30am.

Jeanfield Swifts

JEANFIELD Swifts U17s finished their long season on Sunday at Crossgate’s Humbug Park in the final of the spring cup.

The Swifts won in extra time, 4 - 2, thanks to goals from Sam Grieve, two from Ryan Bissett, and Cammy Grant.

This is reward for a hard season which up to Christmas, saw them sitting at the top of the league, still in the last 16 of the Scottish cup and the semi final of the Fife cup.

Unfortunately the long winter lay off did not help the team as they struggled to find their form in the second part of the season.

Three players managed to make their debuts at junior level and the feedback from the juniors was that there will be more game time next season.

The Swifts U14S have had a tremendous season. They clinched their League in the last game of the season and won the Bill Pennycook Trophy at Foxhall Park 3 - 0.

The boys also reached the final of the Ken Drummond cup but were unlucky to lose out on penalties. They reached the semi final of the David Seaton cup but also narrowly lost out, 2 - 1.

This team has been running for three seasons and has made great improvements every season. This successful season has reaped the rewards off the park as well as on it, with seven players being asked to attend trials with three Professional clubs.

Jeanfield Swifts U12S have just completed their first season at 11 a-side.

The team has competed well and shown great spirit and sportsmanship because for a long time throughout the season this team were unbeaten.

The team has also secured a further two coaches which will help this team in their first competitive year next season

Jeanfield Swifts Soccer School is up and running again every Saturday morning from 10.30am to 11.30am for six to seven year olds.

Because of the clubs strict policy on coaches per child, only a limited number of players can be catered for. Unfortunately because this school has become so popular it is now almost running at capacity and there are only a few places left.
