Birnam home opens new garden area

CELEBRATIONS have taken place to mark the gifting of a special garden in Birnam.

A welcoming outdoor area has been created for the benefit of the residents of Rivendell House with money donated by the sons of the late Gladys Smith, in memory of their mother.

The erection of a hexagonal summerhouse, a safe enclosing fence, a relaxing water feature and the provision of sturdy garden chairs has created an oasis where residents, some of whom have dementia, can pass their time safely.

Residents, visitors and neighbours attended the celebration, with Mrs Smith’s sons Roger and Chris unveiling a plaque commemorating their mother.
