A FEMALE cyclist was shocked when a middle-aged man indecently propositioned her as she cycled past him on Perth’s North Inch ... writes Denis Brown.
The man, aged between 50 and 60 and sitting on a bench near the monument on Charlotte Street, shouted out the crude and explicit suggestion at the woman in her late 20s at 4pm on Wednesday.
His victim was so distressed she immediately pedalled home and called police.
Officers subsequently swooped on the park bench and conducted a sweep of the area.
A Tayside Police spokesman said the inch was particularly busy at the time and given the distinctive nature of the suspect’s appearance, it was possible people may remember him.
“He was about six feet tall with strawberry blond hair that was spiky on top,” he told the PA yesterday.
“We believe he was between 50 and 60-years-old and was wearing an orange, white and green striped polo top and a pair of beige trousers.
“So we’re appealing for any witnesses who may have seen this rather unsavoury chap to contact us.”
He said the unexpected verbal assault had left the victim – who had been out on her bike for a recreational ride – distressed and upset.
“But we haven’t received any other reports around the area so it’s likely that this was an isolated incident,” the spokesman said.
